kingslayer invitational season 2

Every new week at Kingslayer Games means a new week of grinding points and a new week of competition. Every Monday we will review the previous week and spotlight one or more decks.

Standings are updated at blog.kingslayergames.com/standings-season-2 every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

If you go undefeated at an event, let a Staff member know and they can take a picture of your decklist for the recap.

Monday Legacy

Highlighting just how powerful fast mana is, Anthony Garcia smashed through a diverse Legacy field on his way to yet another undefeated finish with Eldrazi Stompy. We’ve featured Anthony’s Decklist in the section below.

Player Deck Record Points
Anthony Garcia Eldrazi Stompy 3-0 3
Kourosh Alizadeh Miracles 2-1 2

Monday Future Standard

With Ravnica Allegiance Standard slowing down, we decided to offer War of the Spark Standard to our avid player base. This event was unsanctioned and featured proxies, but we had a ton of new faces try to take this one down. Joshua Tenny reigned supreme, showcasing the power of Wilderness Reclamation alongside Augur of Bolas.

Nico Urrea Abzan Arkbow 3-1 N/A
Kevin Morris Mono Blue 3-1 N/A

Tuesday Modern

Modern proves to be as popular as always, and with most eyes turned toward the big stage in London, innovative approaches to Modern dominated our events this week, with Jeskai Control making a long-awaited comeback. Robert Orellana won the event on Tuesday, overcoming Shadow Zoo on his way to the top. Despite a recorded victory, we’ve decided to feature Thien’s decklist this week, and you can check it out in the section below.

Midweek Future Standard

As the second event offering for eager Standard players, Kevin Morris piloted Mono Blue to another strong finish — this time a 4-0. Including Silent Submarine into the cadre of tools available, Kevin navigated through a difficult Mardu Aristocrats matchup in the finals.

Thursday Modern

Preceding the Mythic Championship in London, Thursday Modern led perfectly into a weekend of both Modern and Sealed for spoiler happy players. Opting to avoid a Future Modern event proved successful, as many players showcased their feature decks on one of the last Modern tournaments before War of the Spark legality. Ultimately Anthony Garcia would earn himself back to back wins this week, this time with a different fast mana deck — Amulet Titan.
